Dipped yarn

In modern industrial applications, the materials used for reinforcement and strengthening play a crucial role in ensuring the durability, resilience, and overall performance of products. One such material that has emerged as a game-changer in various industries is dipped yarn. This highly durable and versatile material is used in a wide range of applications, from tires and industrial belts to hoses and seals. Dipped yarn is essential for improving the strength, resistance, and longevity of rubber products, offering performance improvements that would otherwise be difficult to achieve using conventional materials.

Dipped yarn is created by dipping high-performance fibers such as aramid or nylon into specialized resins, creating a strong bond between the fiber and the rubber. This unique process results in a material that boasts superior tensile strength, high wear resistance, and outstanding flexibility, which are critical for products exposed to harsh environmental conditions.

What is Dipped Yarn?

This is a type of industrial yarn that has been processed through special techniques. It has significant applications in the fields of textile and non-woven fabric.

In simple terms, it involves applying a special chemical coating or adhesive liquid onto the surface of the basic yarn (the framework material), thereby endowing the yarn with entirely new properties.

Key features and advantages:

Enhanced performance: Significantly improves the wear resistance, cutting resistance, high-temperature resistance, chemical corrosion resistance, and weather resistance of the yarn.

Improve the feel and appearance: It can become smooth, soft or sticky, and the colors are also more diverse.

Enhance functionality: such as achieving conductivity, flame retardancy, anti-static properties, water resistance, etc.

Enhance adhesion: The coating enables the yarn to bond more firmly with the base materials such as rubber and plastic during subsequent processing.

Reduce fraying: Wrap the fibers to prevent the yarn from wearing and fraying during use.

Main application fields:

The application of impregnated yarn is very extensive. It can be found in almost all fabrics or products that require "durability" or "special functions":

Industrial textiles:

Conveyor belt/suction belt: Polyester or nylon coated yarn is the core structural material, providing high strength and adhesion to rubber.

Tire cord fabric: After being impregnated with rubber, nylon, polyester or steel wire serve as the framework of the tire, bearing tremendous pressure.

V-belts and synchronous belts: Provide the strength and tensile resistance required for power transmission.

Pipes and waterproofing sheets: Enhance pressure-bearing capacity and durability.

Filter material: Heat-resistant or chemically corrosion-resistant impregnated yarn is used for industrial filter bags.

Safety protective equipment:

Cut-resistant gloves: High-strength fibers (such as HPPE, glass fibers) are impregnated with polyurethane or latex, and then woven into gloves that are both soft and cut-resistant.

Safety net, safety belt, climbing rope: The impregnated treatment enhances the wear resistance and anti-aging properties.

Clothing and footwear materials:

Stretch band/elastic yarn: Cotton or polyester yarn impregnated with natural latex, used for waistbands, cuffs, etc.

Laces: After impregnation, they become more durable and less likely to come loose.

Functional sports clothing: Designed for areas that require specific elasticity or support.

Home and Specialty Products:

Scrub pads, polishing wheels: Made of yarn impregnated with abrasive materials.

Blind slat pull cord, pet leash: Enhance durability and feel.

Industrial bristles.

Benefits of Dipped Yarn

Exceptional durability

The wear resistance has been significantly enhanced: The coating acts like a "armor", protecting the internal fibers from frictional wear and significantly extending the service life.

Cut-resistant/Puncture-resistant: Used for protective gloves and fabrics, the coating (such as polyurethane) can bond the high-strength fibers together, jointly resisting external forces. It is much stronger than untreated yarn.

Anti-aging: Resists ultraviolet rays, ozone, moisture and chemical corrosion, suitable for outdoor and harsh industrial environments.

Outstanding functionality

Strong adhesion to the substrate: This is a key advantage as a structural material (for example, in rubber products). The coating enables a perfect bonding with rubber, plastic, resin, etc., without peeling off.

Excellent flexibility and elasticity: For instance, latex impregnated yarn can offer long-lasting and uniform resilience, suitable for elastic bands and sportswear.

Environmental stability: Various properties such as flame retardancy, anti-static, conductivity, water resistance, oil resistance, and high temperature resistance can be achieved as needed.

Improve the processing and usage experience

Reduce fraying/flying fibers: The coating fixes the fibers, making the fabric cleaner and smoother during weaving and usage.

Uniformity is improved: The coating compensates for the minor unevenness on the surface of the fibers, making the strength and thickness of the yarn more consistent.

Improve the feel: It can be made smooth, soft or have an increased friction coefficient as per the requirements, enhancing the tactile sensation of the final product.
